The Office luxembourgeois de l'accueil et de l'intégration (OLAI) today launched a 'Volunteer hotline' to better communicate with those wishing to offer their support in the form of calls and letters, material gifts or their time to refugees in Luxembourg.

From beginning of 2015, scores of people have fled their country seeking refuge and peace in Luxembourg, and have been received in the country by OLAI in order to provide them with accommodation, psycho-social support and guidance.

Faced with the emergency, OLAI received many offers of voluntary support from the population of the Grand Duchy and has therefore established the hotline to offer a unique centre of volunteering information to the public. The hotline has been created in collaboration with Croix-Rouge luxembourgeoise, Caritas and ASTI and guides and informs callers wishing to learn more about the procedure and the rules and principles to be observed.

The Hotline team will go live tomorrow, Wednesday 7 October 2015 and will from thenceforth be available from 09:00 until 11:30 Monday-Friday. Outside of these hours, callers will be able to leave a voicemail message with their contact details, and will subsequently have their call returned by a member of the Hotline team.

The Hotline can be contacted at 8002-59-59.
