Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Jean Asselborn, will tomorrow chair the Migration section of the 'Justice and Home Affairs' (JHA) Council of the European Union (EU).

The Council is due to discuss the future management of external borders of the Union, as well as the effective implementation of the return and readmission policy with a view to adopting conclusions on the matter. By treating the different means available to the EU to deal with the refugee crisis, Ministers will then review the implementation of the crisis mechanism for the relocation of refugees in the EU, decided at the extraordinary meeting of the JHA Council on 14 September. The Council will review European visa policy.
Luxembourg Minister of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, Romain Schneider, will also be present to join the Council in examining the link between development and migration policies.

Minister Asselborn is also due to co-chair the high-level conference on the 'Eastern Mediterranean and Western Balkans Route' alongside High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President of the European Commissions, Federica Mogherini. The conference will be dedicated to the better management of migration flows through the Western Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean.
