On Thursday 26 November 2015, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) hosted the 6,666th guided group for 2015 in the presence of Patrick Goldschmidt, alderman of the City of Luxembourg.

The visit was organised by the 'Guided Tours' service of the LCTO, marking a milestone of around 250,000 people who have participated in a guided tour of the city centre through the Luxembourg City Tourist Office.

The LCTO reported that the popularity of the city has remeined a gateway for tourism in the Grand Duchy and that tourist programme bookings continue to rise.

The 6,666th group was comprised of students from a variety of countries, including Japan, Syria, Australia, Mogolia, the USA, Canada, Russia, Iran, Cameroon, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Poland, Latvia, Albania, Ukraine and Bolivia. These students are currently studying German at the Trier Akademie für Sprachvermittlung und Integrationsförderung (TASI) UG, during which time they stay with host families for a two-week period in Trier in order to improve their knowledge of the language.

The LCTO has been offering customisable guided tours since 2014 and now manages a network of 200 official guides covering 27 different languages.
