On Thursday 27 November 2015, the new Fire and Rescue Centre in Kehlen was inaugurated by Minister of the Interior, Dan Kersch, and Mayor of the Municipality of Kehlen, Aloyse Paulus.

In response to recent operational requirements, this new structure houses vehicles for the Fire and Rescue Centre, two offices, a meeting and training room, a workshop, a waiting room and changing rooms. The team of volunteer firefighters of the Kehlen municipality, led by Chief Tom Zeihen, will now have access to modern and spacious equipment from November.

Aloyse Paulus briefly introduced the construction programme, the total costs of which stood at approximately €3 million, and were mainly supported by the municipality with two State grants for construction and merger expenses, respectively.

Minister Dan Kersch congratulated those responsible at the Fire and Rescue Service of the Kehlen municipality for having proceded in November 2012 with the merger of the three bodies of Kehlen-Olm, Keispelt-Meispelt and Nospelt, an initiative which the Minister described as commendable and farsighted.

"Your building is, to my knolwedge, the first to disply the name 'Fire and Rescue Centre', a designation provided for all centres and barrabks under the CGDIS draft law; in a way, you have therefore processed an early realisation of my reform," commented Minister Kersch.
