Yesterday evening, Ash Wednesday, the Remich Town Band saw out 2016 Carnival season with the traditional effigy carrying an empty Cremant Bottle and an empty purse.

Surrounded by dancing, the Straw Figure, this year a lady (hence Stréifrächen, not Stréimännchen) ended her parade through the town, as tradition demands, onto the Moselle Bridge and down onto the water, in flames, to be swept downstream by the swollen river.
