The Grand Ducal Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a church in Mersch was broken into last Thursday and several valuable objects inside were stolen.

The incident is thought to have occurred some time between 12:00 and 18:45, and was reported to police by a priest who noticed that the frame of a glass pane protecting the chalice and monstrance, the latter of which is used to exhibit a pious object. Both gold objects were stolen.

The police are now looking for witnesses who may have information related to the incident, including information on anyone who could be considered suspicious or striking. Witnesses are invited to contact the Mersch Police Department at 4997-9500.
