A road traffic accident on the N19 on Wednesday afternoon unfortunately proved fatal for a 79-year-old resident of Beaufort.

The driver in question had been travelling between Moestroff and Bettendorf shortly before 15:00 when he crashed into a tree.

Emergency services from Diekirch and Bettendorf were called to the site, but the man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
