The national Defence Directorate announced on Tuesday that Luxembourg will be temporarily accommodating two Dutch military aircraft.

For the next three weeks, two KDC-10 aircraft will be kept at Luxembourg Airport in Findel as part of the Grand Duchy's support to the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) within the context of Host Nation Support on behalf of an ally of NATO and the European Union.

The KDC-10 tanker aircraft are provided by the RNLAF to the European Air Transport Command (EATC) multinational organisation, of which Luxembourg is a member alongside the six other countries of Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy and the Netherlands.

Luxembourg's assistance was requested by the Dutch Minister of Defence due to the closure of an air base in Eindhoven where runway repaids are due to be carried out between 30 May and 17 June 2016.

Eindhoven Air Base is the main air base for transport aircraft of the RNLAF which provides air transport for military and humanitarian operations around the world. These operations will be performed from the Grand Duchy from 30 May to 17 June 2016.
