Friday 3 June 2016 will see the return of the My Urban Piano initiative created by the City of Luxembourg.

From 3 to 19 June 2016, sixteen pianos, including a mobile one, will be installed along the streets, at attractions and inside neighbourhoods and parks in the capital. They have been decorated by different school centres in the city, several youth centres, the Ligue HMC, the Centre du Rham and the Athénée.

The idea behind the project is to enable students from institutions such as St George's International School Luxembourg to flex their creative muscles whilst brightening the public space for residents and visitors alike and encourage them to spontaneously improvise mini concerts. To this end, a competition was held last year inviting the public to record themselves playing one of the instruments in the city. The competition was won by Violeta Hedin and her son Yannick-Paul.

The 2016 edition of the My Urban Piano project will be inaugurated on Friday 3 June 2016, with a performance by the artist Masha of her new song "Rainbows over Black and White", a special composition for piano.
