On Sunday afternoon, a fatal accident on the A13 motorway claimed the life of a 34 year-old motorist.

The accident happened shortly after 17:30 as a small white van was being driven towards Frisange when the driver lost control and the van veered off the road, rolling a number of times until it came to a stop. By then, the driver had been thrown clear of the vehicle.

The 34 year-old motorist, who lived in the south of the Grand Duchy, succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene of the accident by the emergency services as soon as they arrived.

The A13 between Schengen and Mondorf was closed to traffic and diversions were set up. One lane was re-opened at around 20:00, and both lanes were fully operational by 22:00.
