A search has been launched by Luxembourg Police for a man wanted in connected with a stolen debit card.

The man in question used a stolen debit card to withdraw money from a cash machine along rue de la Chiers in Petange on Monday 20 June 2016. A witness called the police and saw the alleged perpetrator (pictured) enter a grey Renault Scénic with French identity plates.

The police are now searching for clues as to the identity of the man photographed. All relevant information can be directed to the Esch-sur-Alzette Police Department at 4997-5500.

The police has also issued guidelines to help the public avoid having money stolen with their credit card. The police warns against carrying your PIN code on your person, either in the form of a sticky note or saved to a mobile phone, as in the event of your handbag or wallet being stolen, the offender is likely to find this hidden information.

When entering a PIN code at a cash machine, the individual should always shield their code and be vigilant of waiting customers or others standing too close behind them. If the machine fails to eject the card after a transaction, the card user should immediately contact Six Payment Services (Cetrel) at 49 10 10 and lock their card, staying at the machine until they are sure that the card has been blocked.
