The City of Luxembourg has announced that the work on dismantling the gasometer along rue de Bouillon in the Gare district of the capital, creating gas smells, has ceased.

Since April, water from the gasometer's tank has been drained and cleaned, the gasometer has been opened and the inner walls of the gasometer have been cleaned. Odours linked to this work should no longer be discernible.

From now until September 2016, work will involve dismantling the gasometer after which the site will be restored. All work will be carried out and supervised by specialised firms, according to standards and statutory regulations, as well as safety measures.
