A break-in at a Tétange barn in the early hours of Tuesday morning resulted in an intervening police officer sustaining serious injuries.

Burglars had reportedly broken into the barn along rue Principale several times in recent days to steal food. On Tuesday morning, two plainclothes officers were watching the barn when two perpetrators tried again to enter the barn without permission.

When the officers attempted to catch the two burglars, the latter fought back and fled. After giving chase, one officer slipped and was seriously injured in the fall.

One offender was caught by another patrol and arrested, but the second culprit managed to escape, leading two dog handlers and several patrols to begin a search for him.
