The clean-up operation in the aftermath of Friday evening's storm that affected the Grand Duchy and, most severely, Larochette, Ernzen and surrounding villages, has been continuing.

On Saturday afternoon, Luxembourg's Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel, and the Minister for the Interior, Dan Kersch, visited Ernzen to inspect the damage for themselves. The Crisic Cell of the "Bad Weather" Emergency Response Plan also met again, on Saturday at 17:00, and extended their warning for reisdents of certain municipalities not to drink the tap water: Reisdorf (Reisduerf), Larochette (Fiels), Nommern (Noumer) and the Valley of Ernz (Aerenzdall). To be consumed, tap water should be boiled for at least 10 minutes. However, in Reisdorf, tap water should not be consumed at all, even if boiled. These restrictions are to last until at least Monday, pending analysis from water samples.

In addition to bottled water being distributed to residents of Larochette on Saturday morning, another batch was distributed to residents of Reisdorf on Saturday afternoon - from the village fire station - which had also suffered problems regarding the quality of its drinking water.

The distribution of bottled water is also continuing in Cruchten, Larochette, Reisdorf and Ermsdorf, on Sunday until 22:00 and on Monday between 07:00 and 19:00.

To date, almost 1,500 people have been assisted by emergency services provided by the Administration of emergency services, the Luxembourg Army and the Administration of Bridges & Roads.

The Interior Minister Dan Kersch is in constant contact with the mayors of the three municipalities affected (Larochette, Ernz Valley and Nommern) and has assured them of his support for any problems that may occur in the hours and days ahead; the crisis unit is active in order to meet any additional requirements from the affected municipalities.

According to weather forecasts currently available for the remainder of Saturday 23 July, local showers will continue until late evening. The forecast for the following days will see a lull but with showers. MeteoLux and the emergency services are following the situation in an ongoing capacity.

Following the collapse of a bridge in Hessemillen, the road link between Bettendorf and Eppeldorf has been suspended indefinitely. The route and schedule of the rural bus line RGTR 505 line will be changed on Monday.
