On Thursday 25 July 2016, Luxembourg’s Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, Xavier Bettel, visited the Luxembourg Science Center - Groussgasmaschinn project in Differdange.

The centre is to be located in the former premises of the ArcelorMittal vocational school in Differdange (Léierbud) in 2017. A total of 25 experimental stations have already been produced and are currently visible in a workshop on site. The officials involved presented their pedagogical approach with the objective of strengthening the public interest, and especially youth, to science and technology.

PM Bettel commented: "I congratulate the initiators of this project for their commitment and for the challenge with which they are faced. Businesses related to science, technology and engineering occupations are the future and it is important to educate youth about the opportunities that result from this."

Xavier Bettel also visited the premises of the gas station where the "Groussgasmaschinn" and the power plant is located. The gas machine # 11 was declared a national monument in 2008 and major restoration work was carried out. As Minister of Culture, Xavier Bettel has raised the importance of its industrial heritage: "This hall is an important indicator of the industrial architecture of the early 20th century and I'm glad to see that the last gas machine has been restored and enhanced."
