On Tuesday, Luxembourg welcomed 20 refugees into the Grand Duchy, including 15 adults and 5 children, who entered Europe in Italy.

Following the decision of the Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting in September 2015, Luxembourg has committed to take in a total of 557 refugees util the end of 2017 who arrive into Europe in Greece or Italy.

Representatives of the Directorate of Immigration at Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Luxembourg Office for Reception and Integration (OLAI) under the Ministry of Family and Integration, and doctors from the Department of Health, Sanitary inspection Division, welcomed the people at the airport.

OLAI will handle the reception and social support for the newly-arrived and will support them throughout the procedure of their application for international protection.
