Sunday 23 October 2016 marked the reopening of the Place du Parc in the Bonnevoie neighbourhood in Luxembourg city.

This past Sunday, the College of the Mayor and Aldermen attended the reopening of the square in Bonnevoie following several months of renovation works, which were coordinated by the “Coordination Espace Public”. The reconstruction cost €250,000.

The renovation works were agreed upon between mid-2015 and the start of 2016 with the participation of public organisations, such as Transition Bo, the Entente des Sociétés de Bonnevoie, and interested residents.

Now with its new layout, the Place du Parc has the potential to become a multi-use meeting and leisure place for people of all ages in the Grand Duchy. There is improved accessibility with additional paths and entrances, as well as a new pavement surface for people with reduced mobility or using prams.

Moreover, the Place du Parc has seen the addition of extra seating, as well as the demolition of the eastern embankment in an attempt to create more space. There is also a new grass area in which wild flowers have been planted and this aims to add a touch of colour to the area in springtime. Finally, there are signs around the park, designed by school children in Luxembourg, reminding visitors to respect the area.
