Statec, Luxembourg's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies, has announced that a holiday survey is to be undertaken between 9 January and 20 February 2017, from Mondays to Fridays between 17:00 and 20:30, and on Saturdays between 11:00 and 16:00.

The survey will cover holidays, business trips and excursions taken during the 4th quarter 2016 by the resident population of Luxembourg within the framework of a Community regulation on European statistics on tourism. These include previous trips and excursions; the questions will not in any way relate to future trips and excursions.

The survey is to be carried out by the German company T.I.P. Biehl & Partner, based in Trier, who will contact residents by telephone. The interviewer will ask about the modalities of the trips made in the past, namely during the months of October, November and December 2016.

Statec has stressed the importance of participation in its research. Reliable information flows are essential to the functioning of the state, the economy and institutions. Citizen participation is paramount and Statec has thanked all participants in advance for their cooperation.

Individual survey responses are not disclosed or used for purposes other than the production of statistics, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.
