On Sunday evening, a 60 year-old man died in the station district of Luxembourg city after apparently swallowing an amount of drugs.

The tragic incident happened shortly before 23:00 when a woman reported to the police that her mobile phone had been stolen and that she had seen the person who stole it in the station district. When a police patrol located the man on rue Origer, they discovered that he had most likely concealed an amount of drugs in his mouth. While he spat out a number of them, he tried to resist arrest. As he was being brought to the police station, he suddenly became ill; the police officers informed the emergency doctor.

However, attempts at recussitating the man failed and he was declared dead.

The public prosecutor has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death of the man.
