On Friday early evening, the 26th annual Vakanz travel and tourism fair opened at Lux-Expo in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

The 3-day event features exhibitors over three halls (8-10) covering travel (by air, road and rail) and accommodation (in Luxembourg, neighbouring countries and those further afield) as well as country national stands, from Canada and Panama to Japan, Sri Lanka and India, and Spain, Greece, Croatia and Turkey, amongst many others.

As in previous years, Luxair / LuxairTours has by far the largest exhibition space, with individual stands per country. There is also a free-to-enter competition, with answers to clues dotted around the exhibition's three halls. Another feature this year is the presence of the world champion in mini-drones.

Jean-Michel Collignon, Director of LuxExpo, opened the official inauguration, with Francine Closener, Secretary of State at the Ministry of the Economy, responsible for tourism, addressing those assembled with a reflection on national tourism promotional activities during last year.

Vazank 2017 is open on Saturday and Sunday this week-end. See www.luxexpo.lu for details.
