On Friday, the cabinet of Luxembourg's government approved the draft Grand-Ducal regulation adopting the programme for the construction of subsidised housing projects as well as the State's financial participation.

The draft regulation aims to take over the projects of former programmes for the construction of projects which are still to benefit from state finances, modify certain projects included in the previous programme (e.g. number of subsidised housing units), insert new projects not yet initiated dueing the last programme, close off the projects which have concluded and, finally, repeal the Grand-Ducal regulation relating to the previous programme of construction dated 16 April 2016.

The programme covers a total of 533 projects for a total of 10,981 dwellings of which 5,868 dwellings relate to projects for the construction of houses intended for sale and 5,133 dwellings concern projects for rent.

The total state contribution for all 61 new projects is estimated at €42.1 million.
