Following Saturday's article entitled "Housing Projects to Benefit from €42.1m State Subsidies" (http://www.chronicle.lu/categoriesluxembourgathome/item/20135-housing-projects-to-benefit-from-€42-1m-state-subsidies), the Ministry of Housing has confirmed that 241 new subsidised housing units are to be constructed.

The updating of the subsidised housing programme involves an overall addition of 61 new projects for a total of 241 units, of which 61 will be for sale and 180 for rent. 50% of these 61 new projects have been initiated by municipalities, which illustrates the strong dynamics induced in social housing and subsidised by the municipal initiative.

The additional budgetary total resulting from the addition of 61 projects, at almost €42.1 million, confirms the Government's willingness to continue and increase the support and promotion of the efforts of the municipalities as well as others (Housing and Housing Development Fund and SNHBM) and also the initiative of private actors and various associations and foundations.

Since October 2014, 288 new projects have been approved by the Government's cabinet for a total of 3,750 units of which 1,509 will be for sale and 2,244 for rent.

Overall, the updated programme of subsidised housing projects involves 533 projects for a total of 10,981 housing units (5,868 for sale and 5,133 for rent).
