On Friday 20 January, a 19 year-old Luxembourg national from Redange lost his life in a traffice accident on the N23 between Koetschette and Rambrough, near Martelange.
The accident happened at around 07:00 when the car crossed to the opposite side of the road and was hit side-on by an oncoming car, causing the side of the first car to cave in due to the force of the impact. The driver was trapped in the vehicle.
The volunteer fire brigade from Rambrouch as well as an emergency physician arrived at the scene of the accident and managed to free the man from his car, whereupon resuscitation measures were carried out. Despite the attempts of the rescue services, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
The public prosecutor's office was informed and ordered a forensic examination of the scene of the accident. The road was cleared for traffic at midday.
