On 8 July 2015, Minister of the Interior Dan Kersch will present the priorities of the Luxembourg Presidency for the Council of the European Union at the plenary session in Brussels of the European Committee of Regions (CoR).

The meeting will be attended by representatives from local and regional authorities of the EU, and will enable the Luxembourg Presidency to emphasise its cooperation with the Committee of Regions.

The CoR was established by the Maastricht Treaty of 1993, and is comprised of 350 members, regional presidents, mayors and elected representatives of regions in the 28 EU Member States.

The CoR is dedicated to the cooperation between European, national, regional and local parties, with the intention of deepening European integration through greater participation of its citizens. This theme is a central thread of the Luxembourg Presidency, which intends to put the citizen at the heart of the European project.
