The President of the Council of Ministers for EU Agriculture, Fernand Etgen, met with the French Minister of Agriculture, Stéphane Le Foll, today in Paris to discuss issues within the dairy, cattle and pig sectors of France and the rest of Europe.

At the behest of France and several other European Union (EU) Member States, the Luxembourg Presidency organised a unique convention of the Council of Ministers for 7 September 2015, where measures to be taken at the European level will be discussed.

Until then, the Luxembourg Presidency reported that it will continue consultations with other Member States and the Commission at technical and political levels, to search for solutions to the agricultural plight of certain regions. The Presidency affirmed that the monitoring of agricultural markets and different production chains remains a priority.
