Security, Iran Relations and Migration Policy on Agenda at February Gymnich Meeting

Jean Asselborn is in Amsterdam on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 February 2016 to attend the informal 'Gymnich' meeting of EU Foreign Ministers.

Bert Koenders, the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, will host the meeting chaired by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.

The Gymnich meeting provides the opportunity for those present to take stock of international politics, and this time will particularly focus on the development of the European Union's global strategy on Foreign and Security policy, in the presence of EU Defence Ministers.

The Foreign Ministers will then focus on the EU-Iran relations, before conducting a round-up of regional news in the Middle East.

The Gymnich meeting will also enable ministers present to discuss the EU's migration policy, in the presence of their counterparts from Turkey and the countries applying for accession located on the western Balkan route.
