After Friday's Justice and Home Affairs Council, during which an agreement was reached regarding the revision of the suspension mechanism on visa policy, Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, will be today attending the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union.

The Council is expected to discuss the EU's regional strategy for Syria and Iraq as well as the threat from Daech, and is due to adopt conclusions. This strategy, which was adopted on 16 March 2015, defines the action to be taken by the EU and its Member States to help restore peace and security in Syria and Iraq.

The ministers present will also discuss the external aspects of migration.

Over lunch, the High Representative Federica Mogherini will provide information on the EU's overall strategy, which aims to guide the actions of the EU in the world in the coming years.
