The municipalities of Mompach and Rosport are to merge, with the offices of the new combined municiaplity of Rosport-Mompach to be based in Rosport.
The plan to encourage small municipalities of less than 4,000 inhabitants to merge has resulted in those of Mompach and Rosport to merge; the decision was approved by the Government cabinet held on Friday.
The two municipalities had held a referendum on 24 April 2016, with 65.18% of Mompach residents and 80.07% of Rosport residents agreeing to the proposed merger.
The merger will take effect from 1 January 2018.
