On Monday 25 Jul 2016, Étienne Schneider and Pierre Gramegna travelled to London for a working visit.

During the first day of the trip, Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Étienne Schneider, and Finance Minister, Pierre Gramegna, visited Level 39, the biggest European accelerator for start-ups in the fields of FinTech and CyberSecurity, located in the towers of Canary Wharf in the business district of east London.

In light of the establishment of the Luxembourg House of Financial Technologies (LHoFT), the ministers are ensuring they are well informed about why and how Level 39 became so successful. Furthermore, Ministers Étienne Schneider and Pierre Gramegna have had meetings with several start-ups there to discuss the consequences of Brexit for future developments in London.

Nearly 40 British companies, mainly within the financial technology sector, attended the seminar entitled "Luxembourg ICT solutions for your business" which was organised by the Luxembourg ICT Cluster in the premises of the Luxembourgish Embassy in London. The attendees were informed about the opportunities offered by the Luxembourgish ecosystem, in presence of the Ministers Étienne Schneider and Pierre Gramegna.

During the first day of the working visit, the two Luxembourg ministers also gave interviews to journalists from several British media.

In 2015, the UK was the sixth largest EU trading partner in Luxembourg. The volume of trade between Luxembourg and the United Kingdom amounted to €768.57 million.
