Luxembourg’s secretary of state for economy, Francine Closener, was at the International Tourism Fair (ITB) in last week, the flagship tourism industry event that brings together some 10,000 exhibitors representing 187 countries in 160,000 square metres of exhibition space. This is the largest business-to-business platform in the world, welcoming more than 120,000 trade representations and 60,000 individuals.

On Wednesday last, Secretary Closener visited the Luxembourg stand and its partners,Château d'Urspelt, Mondorf Domaine Thermal, Hotel Wemperhardt, Le Royal Hotels & Resorts — Luxembourg, LCTO, Excellence Hotels and Luxair.

Secretary Closener also took the opportunity to visit the Hotelstars Union stand, which developed the European system for a uniform classification of hotels, based on guidelines and criteria common to the participating countries. Luxembourg has been a member of the Hotelstars Union since 2011 and intends to implement the classification in the Grand Duchy within the next month.
