Representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Luxembourg for Tourism (LFT) are in the United States promoting the Grand Duchy as a tourist destination.

Hosting workshops in New York and Chicago, the delegation aims to present the richness and diversity of the Grand Duchy to a market that presents significant development prospect for Luxembourg and has grown by an average of 7.1% each year since 2012.

In 2016, visitors from the US accounted for 76,000 overnight stays in Luxembourg.

A visit to the Luxembourg American Cultural Centre in Belgium, Wisconsin, is also planned, as well as a meeting with specialised media in Chicago. The delegation is accompanied by representatives of Voyages Emile Weber and the Château d'Urspelt.

This promotional mission aims to inscribe the Grand Duchy in the programmes of American tour operators and to strengthen the reputation of the country as a tourist destination with a rich and varied range of options.

One of the themes highlighted is "memory tourism” emphasising the common history that Luxembourg and the United States share. Memorial sites dedicated to the tragic events of the Second World War, monuments and museums linked to the General Patton and the liberation of the German occupation are a real focus of interest for American tourists.
