On Friday morning, LuxairTours held a press conference at the Hotel Légère in Munsbach to review the progress of the tour operator during 2015 and look forward to 2016.

Compared to 2014 (547,000), the number of LuxairTours customers in 2015 has risen to 554,000.

Palma (Spain) has been the most popular destination this year, followed by Malaga (Spain), with the most significant decrease expenecience on the Djerba (Tunisia) route. Such decreases have now seen numbers fall in 2015 to: Egypt 16,700; Morocco 21,400, Tunisia 27,000, and Turkey 41,500.

Alberto Kunkel explained that in view of the concerns about flying to North Africa, the tour operator has identified and started to operate flights and holidays to new destinations, including outside summer holidays, e.g. to Lapland and Iceland. He also talked about the arrival of the new Boeing B737/800 aircraft which will help to increase capacity during the low season.

The Luxair group's fleet now comprises 5 Embraer jets, 7 Bombardier turbo-props, 3 Boeing 737-700s and 4 Boeing 737-800s.

Justing Striby introduced the new Vakanz Eté 2016 Luxair Tours brochure that covers 42 destinations in 24 countries, including 4 new destinations (Zadar in Croatia (choice of 10 hotels) from 2 May to 3 Oct, Chania in Greece (choice of 6 hotels) from 5 May to 13 Oct, Costa de Almeria in Southern Spain (Andalousia) from 31 Mar to 20 Oct, plus the Italian destinations of Venice (29 Apr to 27 Oct) and Naples (27 Mar to 23 Oct)), stressing the price benefits of availing of the Ultra First Minute and First Minute offers. Destinations range from the Canaries in the South-West to Turkey and Egypt in the South-East.

Also, the tour operator's LUXiClub will have 3 new hotels (Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria) for 2016, with the 2016 theme focusing on Pirates, bringing the total LUXiClub resorts to 13.

Other benefits announced include reductions up to €100 per person per holiday reserved by 29 February.

The #Excellence brochure for Summer 2016 includes 29 hotels at 16 destinations, also with new hotels.

The Brochure Best Seller Happy Summer, where children go free outside high seasons, will be available from 7 January!
