Business was booming for Frankfurt-Hahn in 2015, with the airport reporting Wednesday that passenger traffic to destinations throughout Europe had increased 9% compared with the previous year to nearly 2.7 million travellers.

In the last twelve months, 2.667 million people used the airport for holiday destinations such as Mallorca, Crete and Lisbon, as well as business trips to major cities including London and Milan.

"With this we are one of the fastest growing airports in passenger business in Germany," commented Hahn Airport CEO Markus Bunk. Changes made to the airport in the last year have included new eateries in the terminal, as well as an amusement area for families with children. The airline Ryanair also recently opened a new journey from Frankfurt-Hahn to Cornwall, and Bunk claimed that the airport could see well over two million in passenger numbers this year.

"We have the capacity, highly qualified personnel and are easily and quickly reached," explained John Kohlsaat, Head of Sales at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport. "In the eastern Mediterranean we have so far reached fewer goals [...] Here is another big potential".

Passenger numbers for Frankfurt-Hahn in 2015 were strikingly close to those of Luxembourg's own airport in Findel for the same year, which recorded an 8.8% rise in travellers to 2.69 million.
