The 34-strong team will join 2,700 athletes from 107 countries for a week of competition starting on 18 March, though Team Luxembourg will spend a short while in Bludenz, part of the host town programme, before arriving in Schladming and Graz for the start of the games.

They met up for a special reception at the residence of the Austrian ambassador, Gregor Schusterschitz, last Thursday for a special send-off attended by the ambassador and his wife, Pascale Schmoetten, Chair of Special Olympics.

Luxembourg is competing in the Nordic skiing, Alpine skiing, stick shooting and snowshoeing events.

The luxembourg team is made up of:

Nordic Skiing: Pierrot Feltgen, Frank Schintgen, Silvia Splicsk, Lynn Streitz, Josette Lamers, Patrick Guth, Francesco Zartotti, Luigi Alberti;

Alpine Skiing: JET Dasselaar, Holm Ristock, Elise Georges, Kelly Toex, Aly Hoffmann, Alastair Lesire;

Stick Shooting: Paul Koch, Marc Theis, Ed Pick, Cathia Jacobs, Caroline Schambourg, Jessica Metzdorf, Laurent Reding, Yves Logelin, Guy Haas, Marc Schiltz, Daniel Roesgen;

Snowshoeing: Vanessa Di Nardo, Guy Wagener, Sonja Engeldinger, Nora Urbing, Bea Cannels, Laurent Rosseljong, Pit Frank, and Pascal Closter.
