Luxembourg is currently participating in the European Curling Championships C-Division 2016 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, represented by Fabio Veltri, Alex Benoy, Francesco Grassi and Marc Hansen as skip.

19 teams from 15 countries are vying for four places at the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships 2016, to be held in Glasgow, Scotland between 18 and 26 November 2016. 11 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams are contending for the four qualification – two men’s and two women’s – spots available in the B-Division. The 11 men’s teams are: Andorra, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, France, Ireland, Iceland, Luxembourg, Romania and Serbia.

After losing to the vastly favored Estonians 2-10, Luxembourg rebounded to beat Romania 12-8 (on Tuesday), who were in B-Division last year, in an exhilirating 4-game winning streak. Luxembourg then edged out Bulgaria 9-7 and Croatia 10-8 (both on Wednesday) and the Belarus 12-7 on Thursday.

On Thursday evening, Luxembourg played Ireland, but came up agonisingly short in a 8-9 reversal. Luxembourg had been leading 8-7 after 9 ends, with Ireland winning the last 2-0 to take the win.

After playing 6 games (out of 10), Luxembourg is currently lying in 4th position on 8 points, level with Ireland and Belarus, and 2 points behind France in 2nd place, with France having played 2 games more.

Luxembourg's remaining games are against France, Iceland, Andorra and Serbia, with only France above Luxembourg in the round-robin table.
