On Sunday, the sun shone for the 18th annual Gala Tour de France, an invitational cycle race that took place at Esch-Belval this year in the memory of Marcel Gilles, organised by ACC Contern.

Following the afternoon's junior and women's races, the men's event was won by Zdenek Stybar (Etixx - Quick Step) of the Czech Republic in 1 hour 42 mins 53 seconds, with local hero Bob Jungels (Trek) in second and Britain's Steve Cummings (MTN) in third, with all three riders accredited with the same time. Luxembourg's Laurent Didier (TREK) and Ben Gastauer (AG2R La Mondiale) also participated, as did a number of other international and local cyclists, numbering 33 in total. Laurent Didier came 8th overall and won the prize for the most combative and Ben Gastauer finished in 9th.
