On Sunday evening, Luxembourg triumphed in the final of the division III World Championships of ice hockey being played in Sofia, Bulgaria, this week.

Having topped Group B with wins over the UAE (17-0), Georgia (6-4) and South Africa (3-1), Luxembourg quialified for the play-offs where they had a very comfortable 8-1 win over Hong Kong in thev firsr semi-final.

Winners of Group A, Bulgaria, the tournament hosts, then set up a mouth-watering final between themselves and Luxembourg, by accounting for Georgia 9-3.

In the final, Luxembourg overcame stiff resistance form the home team and favourites, Bulgaria, eventually triumphing 10-4 (3-3, 4-1, 3-0).
