Rugby Club Luxembourg (RCL) U14s and U16s were both left wondering what could have been after convincing wins on Saturday.

After the U19s had secured promotion to division one last Saturday, the younger age groups faced ASUB and Antwerp respectively.

An injury-ravaged RCL U16s were finally able to select from a full squad for the first time in three months. The Cessange-based side were convincing victors by 6 tries to 1 over ASUB leaving them a tantalising 5 points off the play-offs. Massive credit however should be showered on the only squad playing division 1 Rugby at any age group in the country.

In Antwerp, the U14s had been hoping for back-to-back promotions to division two, but consecutive away defeats in March meant second place was the most realistic expectation. A terrific performance from a small squad of 17 players was unexpected but warmly received by a large travelling band of parents, siblings and injured team mates. All credit to the players for 14 victories from 16 matches from a squad which has grown in confidence and size as the season has progressed.

This Saturday 7 May, rugby fans can see RCL in action in Cessange, where the seconds play at 14:00 followed by the first XV v Munich in the regional play-offs at 16:00.
