On Sunday 2 April 2017, 161 swimmers took part in the Luxembourg Swimmers’ (FLNS) Grand Prix de L’Avenir in Wiltz.

The participants aimed for new best times and trophies at this year’s edition of the swimming competition.

The programme featured four tracks for the “Poussins” category (the youngest children) and five for the slightly older children in the category “Pupilles”. The first category includes girls born in 2007 and 2008, and boys born in 2006 and 2007, whilst the latter includes girls born in 2005 and 2006, and boys born in 2004 and 2005.

For the “Poussins”, Nina Hric (born 2008) from the Swimming Luxembourg team came first with 36 points.  Leeloo Reinesch from SC Differdingen won with 41 in the category for 10-year-old girls.

With 51 points, Swimming Luxembourg’s Sofia Carneiro stood high on the podium, followed by Michele Bayanaa (48) and Mathilde Lurkin (39). Also with 51 points, CN Dudelange’s Lena Peters won in the 2005 year group.

Regarding the boys’ categories, Albert Chaussard from CN Dudelange came first in the 2007 year group with 40 points. In the category for eleven year olds, Thijmen Rikkert from Swimming Luxembourg won with 45 points, whilst Riccardo Lucarelli came first with 54 points in the category for those born in 2005.

In the category for the older swimmers, born in 2004, Nick Lanners from Swimming Luxembourg came in first place with 57 points.

They also succeeded in the mixed-relay races.
