On Sunday 25 June, the third and final stage of the Avenir competitions of the Luxembourg swimming association FLNS took place in Aquasud in Differdange-Oberkorn.

At the event, 127 swimmers (65 boys, 62 girls) from eight Luxembourg clubs competed for best times, trophies and medals in 485 individual and 12 relay races.

In the girls in the Pupilles category, among those born in 2005, Neele Albers (SCDE) secured the victory the 50m breaststroke with 37.70 seconds. Lis Leonard (CNP / 38.52) came second, ahead of Sarah Pesch (SCDE / 39.81). From the birthyear 2006, Sofia Carneiro of Swimming Luxembourg was successful. with 43.17 seconds, she was close to clubmate Mathilde Lurkin (43.26). Third was Yin Kettenmeyer of the SCDE with a time of 46.55.

The overall podium for the boys from the year 2005 went to Swimming Luxembourg: Riccardo Lucarelli (37.19) won the gold medal, Nuno Carneiro (37.75) silver and Darius Florean (40.96) bronze. Nick Lannners (SL) won the race after 36.47 seconds from the year 2004. Silver went to Joao Simao Nogueira (CNP) and Matteo Moraru (SL) in 27.02 seconds.

The 50m free-range from the year 2005 in the girls’ category was won again by Swimming Luxembourg. In 30.52 seconds Lou Jominet prevailed before Laura Hric (31.06) and Mara Krombach (31.53). Sofia Carneiro from the SL won the 2006 race in 34.54 seconds. Second place went to Vereinsolleg Mathilde Lurkin (35.06) and Mara Soffio (CNDu / 35.39).

In the boys’ 50m freestyle from the year 2005 SL-Schwimmern won. With 29.65, Riccardo Lucarelli won ahead of Nuno Carneiro (30.29) and Darius Florean (30.38). The title for the year 2004 was secured by Nick Lanners of the SL in 27.95 seconds, ranked second was Matteo Moraru (SL / 28.15), and third was Joao Simao Nogueira (CNP / 29.45).

At the end of a successful competition day, the mixed 4 x 50 meter tiered stairs were on the agenda. In the Poussins category of the 4x50m, team of the Swimming Luxembourg came first (2:35.35), followed by the Quartet of the Sponge Club Monnerech (2:55.01) and the second team of the Swimming Luxembourg (2:59-14). Victory in the category Pupilles went to the first team of the SL with 2:17.15 min, second place with 2:20.82 was the quartet from Ettelbrück. Third was the second team of the SL with 2:21.68.

Moreover, in Rome from 23 to 25 June, the "54th Internationali di Nuoto Settecolli " took place. Teams from 34 nations, including Luxembourg, were present. Among them were numerous Olympic and World Championship medallists.  The world champions will take place in one month in Budapest.

For instance, the Raphaël Stacchiotti, with more than 100m of butterfly, was won by Olympian winner Chad le Clos from South Africa and Hungary's star swimmer Laszlo Cseh. In addition to Chad le Clos, the reigning world champion James Guy is also in the starting list for more than 200m freestyle. Swiss Jeremy Desplanches leads the start list in the 200m height, with which Raphaël has been preparing for the competition in Rome since Tuesday in his home club "Olympic Nice Natation".
