On Friday afternoon, Luxembourg's Mandy Minella won her first match at the Waves Open 57 tennis tournament when she survived a spirited performance from her opponent, Constance Sibille.

The 2nd seed, fresh from her Wimbledon match, eventually won through 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, and now faces Amandine Hesse in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Agianst Sibille, it was the Luxembourg player's experience that gave her the edge. She looked tired but, when needed, she was able to be more aggressive and win the points. In the 3rd set she was leading 4-0 at one point before slipping; it was tied 5-5 before she pulled out the stops to pass through to the semi-finals.
