At the 2016 French Open tennis championship currently being held at Roland Garros in Paris, Luxembourg's Gilles Muller was in first round action on Tuesday.

Gilles Muller surged ahead to 5-1 in the first set before losing confidence, the set and the match to Marcos Baghdatis, 6-7, 4-6, 1-6.

In the post match interview, Gilles had played well and was up 5-1 in the first set before starting to tense up and lose confidence. He had doubts about playing on clay. Marcos is a fighter and knew that it wasn’t over. Marcos started playing better, lifting his level and winning easy points. This was Gilles first match had played in two months due to a wrist injury and he tried to force the points too much. He wasn’t nervous before or during the match, he just felt a bit lost with no answers. He was not able to win easy points on his service the way he normally can.

Gilles is still in Roland Garros for the men's doubles.
