On Saturday, the BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open tennis championship 2016 started at Kockelscheuer, with the first round of qualifying.

Luxembourg had two wild-card entries, both having been drawn in tough opening matches against the top two (qualifying) seeds.

Laura Correia was beaten by Czech Kristyna Pliskova 6-2, 6-2, and Eleonora Molinaro was beaten by 2nd seed American Lauren Davis 6-0, 6-2.

The qualifying for the Ladies Singles championship continues on Sunday.
