A Yin & Yang Yoga Morning Workshop – ‘Get Ready for Summer - Core Strength & Energy’ is being held on Saturday 28 May 2016 between 09:00 and 12:00 at the International School (36 Boulevard Pierre Dupong, L-1430 Luxembourg-Merl, in the Lower School, Multi Purpose Room. Free parking. Across street from P&R Bouillon (Bus 17 and 22)).

With summer just around the corner, the workshop will help participants to get fit and energised whilst strengthening their core. The class will begin with usual Yin Yoga, involving softly holding poses for 3-5 minutes, permitting a deeper opening of the connective tissues to access Yang Yoga poses more easily. Special focus will be placed on the heart and small intestine meridians in the Yin portion of the class.

09:00-10:30 Yin Yoga

After a brief review of the chakra system, participants will sink into the Yin Yoga poses, whilst receiving information on how to balance the 5th chakra, allowing the energy to flow freely and how it affects the rest of the body and mind. Soft and slow, most Yin Yoga poses are done on the floor.

Gravity and time (poses are held 3-5 minutes) help to release deeper into the pose and apply healthy stress to connective tissues, making them stronger, more flexible and increasing circulation in the joints. Yin Yoga balances the meridians (energy channels), releases chronic and long held tensions, as well as negative emotions.

Profoundly relaxing on a physical and mental level, it opens up the body on a whole new level.

10:30-12:00 Yang Yoga

In this Vinyasa Flow (breath synchronised movements), participants will move smoothly from one pose to the other.

Soft warm ups prepare the body, energising pranayama (breathing exercises) and invigorating sun salutations heat up, detox and stretch the body. Time is then taken to explore each pose individually, practicing mindfulness and awareness, ending in a brief relaxation at the end.

Energising and refreshing, this will wake up body and mind, oxygenate the blood, stretch and tone the body and relieve stress and tension.
