On Tuesday 17 November, more than 300 finance professionals gathered at the Hotel Le Royal in Luxembourg city for the 7th edition of the Luxembourg Finance Management Summit (formerly known as the CFO World Gala); Nicolas Mackel, CEO of Luxembourg for Finance, gave the opening speech on the status of FinTech in Luxembourg and its future development.

International experts Thierry Geerts (CEO, Google Belgium-Luxembourg) and Benoit Legrand (Head of FinTech, ING Group) shared their knowledge on the digitalisation of the finance industry and on changing the banking business model with two inspiring presentations. Their speeches were followed by a European panel discussion moderated by Stéphane Dautel from One point Group, with Patrik Pohl from Deutsche Bank Germany, Rachel Hamen from State Street and Alexandre Rochegude, KPMG Luxembourg.

Two series of workshops animated by Deutsche Bank, EastNets, EBRC, IBM, PwC Luxembourg, Telindus, Unit4 and WhatAVenture followed.

The Luxembourg Finance Management Awards ceremony started with the Corporate Finance Services Awards.

- Tax Firm of the Year Award: ATOZ Tax Advisers Luxembourg, which has become an industry reference, and has created a survey to support and answer its clients’ needs.

- Best Finance & Legal Advisory Firm Award: PwC Luxembourg, thanks, notably, to its targeted advice and expert views but also their latest new technology insights.

- Wealth Management & Investment Firm of the Year Award: Pure Capital, the independent asset management firm, thanks to its main objective of building “win-win” relations.

- Finance Recruitment Award: MichaelPage, which developed a successful and sustainable business thanks to two critical pillars: Customer Relationship and Quality of Service.

- Global Corporate Excellence Award: SGG for innovative solutions to cope with the changing environment.

- Best IT Financial Solution of the Year Award: Clearstream Services, for its FSI Managed Services Platform and its business understanding, quality of services and redundancy (2 active datacenters in Luxembourg).

- Outstanding Contribution to Luxembourg Financial Place: ATEL - its mission is to inform, train and exchange between its peers, to be the European lobby and to promote Luxembourg abroad.

The second part of the ceremony recognised the Finance Management Leaders.

- Finance Team of the Year Award: RBC Investor Services Bank - “At RBC Luxembourg Finance, Change is Business as Usual”.

- Investment Manager of the Year Award: Marie-Christine Lambin, from NOVACAP Asset Management: “your interest is mine”.

- Treasury Manager of the Year Award: Marco Pescarolo, from Ferrero International due to his mission to make sure that the financial flows are continuous, stable and safe. According to him, availability, cost and de-risking are the pillars.

- CFO of the Year Award: Thomas Lentz from Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH). The CFO sees himself as “the business consultant to the business, the executive comity and the Board of Directors”.
