EY Luxembourg's Young Tax Professional of the Year competition, which covered more than 250 universities across 30 countries, has culminated in Julia Hamm being announced as this year's winner at a ceremony held on the sidelines of the EY Tax Club in Luxembourg-Kirchberg on Wednesday 29 June 2016.

The award, which has been organised in the Grand Duchy for the third time this year, encourages young students to demonstrate their aptitutde for tex technical, professional and inclusive leadership, both in their home country and at an international level.

Local competitions are held in each participating country, whereafter finalists are selected to go through to the second round and represent their country in the international final.

In May earlier this a jury composed of EY tax partners as well as tax professionals from a variety of backgrounds and expertise chose Luxembourg's three finalists based on their performance in the analysis and solution of tax business case studies, submitted by a team of tax professionals of EY Luxembourg. The jury were on the lookout for demonstrations of creation and analytical strengthes, as well as practical skills in the finalists.

The Luxembourg winner of the Young Tax Professional of the Year award now has a guaranteed place at the international YTPY final taking place in Amsterdam from 27 November to 1 December 2016. The event will enable the successful country finalists to work closely with a diverse range of tax professionals, tax professors, tax directors and EY partners and will see them challenged with case studies and interviews before expert judges. The panel will subsequently confirm the four winners of the international YTPY Award.

The awards will aim to enhance the personal exeprience as well as the connection and understanding of the various tax markets of the winner. First prize will be a 30-day "round-the-world" business trip built around 10-day working visits to key EY Area Tax Centers in London, Washington, DC and Hong Kong. The winner of the second prize will receuve a 10-day visit to one of EY's Area Tax Centers, whilst third prize will involve an invitation to take part in one of EY's international client conferences, at which the winner will have the opportunity to meet our EY tax leaders and key clients.
