Organised by the Schengen Peace Foundation, the same organisation behind the ever-growing World Peace Forum, the 6th annual Luxembourg Peace Prize is to be held in the Grand Duchy on Friday 30 June 2017.

The Luxembourg Peace Prize Ceremony is to be held on Friday 30 June 2017 from 09:00 to 15:00 at the historic European Parliament Schuman Building in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

Additionally, to celebrate the laureates and peace builders achievements, a Gala Dinner will be held at the nearby Centre Jean XIII from 19:00.

The Luxembourg Peace Prize was initiated in 2012 to award outstanding peacemakers. Since 2015 the Luxembourg Peace Prize has been a one-day event, where the organisers honour the Laureates and award prizes in the following categories: Peace Activists, Peace Education, Peace Organization, Public Peace Efforts, Peace Technology, Youth Peacemaker, Peace Process and Peace Journalism.

The Schengen Peace Foundation is approved by HRH Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg. Created with the purpose of promoting the message of peace in Europe and the world, the Foundation contributes to the development of a more peaceful world by spreading the “Spirit of Schengen” into all world regions. Since 2007 it has organised the World Peace Forum, which gathers together scholars, peace activists, executives, journalists, students, religious leaders and politicians, as well as any citizen having an interest in participating.

In 2015, the World Peace Forum took its first real steps into the world and organised the First Youth Work Peace Forum in Cairo, Egypt, followed by the World Peace Forum in the city of Baia Mare, Romania, working on the topic of “Finding Common Global Values”. The 2016 World Peace Forum extended the organisation's network in South America and was hosted in Florianopolis, Brazil, under the motto “We Believe”.

The 2017 Forum will be held in Amman, Jordan from 22 to 25 September, under the title "The Time is Now".

There is a limited number of spaces available - to attend, please register now at www.luxembourgpeaceprize.org. For security reasons, access to the European Parliament building will require the Date of Birth and Country of Identity card from attendees prior to 14 June.
