The Institute for Global Financial Integrity (TIGFI) has announced details of its 42nd Finance Lunch with C.H. Doude van Troostwijk, Philosopher and Theologian, who will speak on “Finance and the Idea of Justice: a Philosophical and a Christian Perspective”, on Wednesday 17 June, which is being held at the Cercle Munster in Luxembourg-Grund from 11:30.

About the speaker: van Troostwijk is a Dutch philosopher and theologian. He is Senior Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow at the Luxembourg School of Religion and Society (Luxembourg), and Affiliated Researcher and Lecturer at the Protestant Theological Faculty of the University of Strasburg (France). His current research and teaching project “Philosophies, Theologies and Ethics of Finance” is a phenomenological hermeneutics of financial crises and monetary antinomies. 

After his studies in theology, philosophy and dramaturgy at the Universities of Utrecht, Amsterdam and Leiden, Doude van Troostwijk worked front and back stage for Dutch television. He was lecturer philosophy at the Institute for Theology and Culture of the University for Applied Studies in Amsterdam, lecturer-researcher at the Philosophical Institute and the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis. In his PHD-Thesis, “Troubailles, Anamneses de la Critique, Kant-Freud-Lyotard” (2002), he developed a (deconstructive) archaeology of philosophical invention. Author and co-author of fourteen books and many articles in the field of philosophy, spirituality and culture amongst which a small monograph and a theatre play on Albert Schweitzer, he is currently working on a trilogy about the genealogy, imaginary and ethics of monetary belief. A collective volume on Ana-theism, in cooperation with Richard Kearney, is in preparation.
