As part of the European Year for Development, the Comité pour une Paix Juste au Proche-Orient (CPJPO) will be holding a roundtable on Thursday 3 December 2015 to discuss the multi-faceted world of words.

Jean Portante, Denis Scuto and Denis Sieffert will be looking at how words shape our worldview, in terms of their sense and non-sense, propaganda, misinformation, manipulation or questionable neutrality. The purpose of the conference will be to provide tools of resistance to the various forms of manipulation achieved through language.

Writer, journalist and poet Jean Portante will address the theme with a poetic approach, particularly around the concept of censureship. Historian and professor of contemporary history Denis Scuto has been recognised for how he has dealt with 'sensitive' topics related to the role of Luxembourg administrations during the Second World War, subjects considered hitherto taboo by many colleagues, whilst journalist and editing director of the French weekly 'Politis', Denis Sieffert, is an expert in the  Israeli-Palestinian conflict and will offer an analysis of the political and media discourse thereof.

The roundtable has been organised by the CPJPO in collaboration with the Amis du Monde Diplomatique, the Cercle de Coopération des ONG, ASTM, Iwerliewen, ASTI and neimënster.

The roundtable will take place at 20:00 in the Salle Edmond Dune of the Abbaye de Neumünster. Entrance is free of charge. The event will most likely take place in French. For more information, contact +352 691 819 306 or paixjuste@gmail.com.
