On 26 and 27 May 2016, SES S.A. will be holding its ninth annual Industry Days in Luxembourg, during which the satellite operator's partners will be showcasing the potential of live television.

The event will demonstrate how live satellite-delivered television can be brought to the latest 4th generation Apple TV, Amazon FireTV 4K and various devices running the Google Android TV operating system, using SAT>IP technology. This technology is an architecture for receiving and distributing satellite signals via IP. The event will provide the opportunity for SES and partners to expose the progress made in developing SAT>IP technology, which has now become a real enable for these devices.

Combining SAT>IP with digital media players provides these devices with the breadth of live television choice that was previously not an option, whilst satellite TV benefits from the attractive interface and viewing experience that comes with the powerful software platforms that run on these players.

SES Industry Days gathers stakeholders of the entire video ecosystem, including broadcasters, TV manufacturers, decoder manufacturers, hardware manufacturers and software developers, providing a platform for discussing and showcasing innovative technologies.

"SAT>IP was conceived right from the start as an enabling technology for next generation satellite TV experiences," Thomas Wrede, VP Reception Systems at SES, commented. "With these demos, we will conretely show how this vision can change the experience of satellite-delivered television again."
